Hiding Army Name in Challenges as Default?

What's the rationale for the default setting of hiding the army nationality when setting up challenges?

Aside from the fact that its completely unrealistic ("uh, I don't really have any idea who I'm at war with...") it takes away much of the advantage of winning initiative if you don't know what kind of army you'll be facing.

In addition, from a gameplay perspective, there are just some armies I don't like playing against. I try not to choose challenges that don't ID the army, but sometimes that's all there is...

I guess this is a taste issue, and some players like the challenge and surprise of having no idea who'll you be up against, but I don't see why this is the default setting.

Presumably because some players would prefer that the opponent does not have the option to pick a nightmare opponent specifically tailored to beat their army.

As if anyone would.......

hmm, I see what you're saying, but it seems just as likely that a player who does not know what army you have will randomly pick an army that you wouldn't want to play against anyway.

I would also think that, knowing what opponent they are facing, many players would pick an army that would be a good match for the initial army, so that, you know, the game would be fun?

I guess I can see why to have the option, but my preference would be that it is not the default.

Some competitive players prefer winning to having fun, regreatably.
