Explanation about dice's rerolling

In other threads I have read that superior units may reroll their dices during a cohesion test and looking in the combat result display after a melee combat I also noticed that this kind of units sometimes get a dice's reroll but nothing about it is clearly stated in the help menu.
I think that in order to understand clearly the combat mechanism it shoul be appropriate to have a clear explanation of this fact.
Does anyone, maybe a TT gamer, have any specific idea about that?

If (and I don't know for certain that it does, but I cannot think of any good reason why it wouldn't) the PC game works in the same way as the TT game, the mechanism for representing the effects of troop quality is by re-rolls.

Re-rerolls occur in most situations where troops have to roll dice, most notably To Hit Rolls and Cohesion Tests.

Superior troops re-roll 1s
Elite troops re-roll 1s and 2s
Poor troops re-roll 6s

This is why better troops perform better than the combat factors would suggest and Poor troops worse.

In addition, a general with the unit raises troop quality one level for To Hit rolls only.

So therefore, for combat hits only, if a general is with the unit:

Superior troops re-roll 1s and 2s
Elite troops re-roll 1s, 2s and 3s
Poor troops don't have to re-roll 6s

As I say, I don't know that the PC game works this way, but I strongly suspect that it does.

How about it Keith? Enlighten us please.

It's been mentioned in posts here earlier when the game was in playtest and such, but I'd never be able to find them.. This is something else I've never been able to find documented in the help...but maybe it's just this olde brain.

It wasn't to be found in the help any of the times I've looked. Maybe each copy of the PC game should include a PDF version of the TT rules rather than having to transcribe those into the on line help a bit more with each game update ;-).

If you have the complex combat info switched on (I think it's the U key) then you get to see the rerolls. Like the time I saw my elites reroll 2 ones & got 2 ones again!

I don't know about the commander part as they are of a unit - do they improve the rerolls for adjacent units as well in the PC version?
