Sorry if this has been answered on another thread, but is there an ETA for a patch/hotfix for the routing from map edge bug that has ruined 3 good games for me and my opponents.

It is in testing - we just dont want to break anything when fixing this.

That would be good after doing that with the 1.1.1 patch

The problemis we have our test team looking at it. Lets say 2 people for a week. thats 60-80 hours. Now we release the game and thousands of you play it for 1-2 hours. You can see how our test resource does not compete to 1 days real play time once its released! We do what we can but we can never do the testing that happens once a game gets released to public.

While I completely understand that testing time is a huge problem, it often seems to me that testers don't play enough games - that their testing sometimes must take a different form. The nullpointer bug for instance became painfully apparent to me well within 20 hours of playing time (and multiple times). The same also seems true with some of the apparent oddities surrounding evades, anarchy etc, a dozen or so battles is enough to stumble across at least one instance. I'm not having a go here, I think that on the whole your testers do a good job. I'm just always surprised that games have problems (and FoG has less than most) that become apparent to most users well within 24 hours of playing time and yet somehow eluded the testing department.

Thinks - Slitherine needs a team of people to play FoG all day to find bugs
Thinks - People will get paid for this
Thinks - where do I get an application form

I now have 12 games suffering from the nullpoint bug.
4 abandoned by the other player.
Leaves only room for 4 'in play'.
Bah!

I was a beta tester for both FoG and RoR and we found many many bugs, crashes and design problems most of which were addressed before release. The null pointer thingy never popped up in beta tests.

The Null pointer is annoying but unexpected for us to. Created in 1.1.1. A case of changing A, testing B, C D & E but not realising you have broken Z. We have already addressed this ready for 1.1.2. and we are just working through testing 1.1.2 before it goes live. Keith

Sure, it came about as a rsult of the 1.1.1 patch. It wasn't an issue before. I assume there wasn't time to test that patch with more than a handful of games. Because of the games I have started since that patch, over 50% are now knackered by the bug and I live in constant fear of the remaining 4 succumbing.

Will the crashed games become playable after installing 1.1.2?

At the moment there is no reason why not. We have tested a lot of games and all crashed games tested
so far
load and play 100% AOK in 1.1.2. Keith

That is good news.
To be honest it's not the bug itself that bothers me as much as with 4 games abandoned by the other player and 12 null pointed, I've only got a very limited selection of games to play now - and I can't pick up any more.

Paisley, I know resigning is only for chess, but you can resign some of you null-pointed games to free up slots for new games.

Yes, but in honesty, they're all really good games (even the couple I'm losing) and if the patch rescues them, then I'd be gutted to have abandoned them.
But I can free four slots by resigning abandoned games - good point. thanks.
Edit - aargh! No I can't. Bah!

Nope. You can't resign unless it's your turn. The one I resigned was a tough decision for me because while I was winning, the map and situation was very cool. I did explan why I resigned to my opponent with the offer of a rematch later.

Actually, resigning when you're winning is fair enough, in fact quite stylish in a way. I don't fond many people resign in fact. I just wish they'd always send a message.

I've only had two people resign on me. One was two point away from breaking and just quit. The other resigned on turn one explaining that he didn't like the scenario -- fair enough.

We're hoping to release tomorrow but I am in the US this week so its been hard logistically to get it all sorted.
