I bought 2 games of FoG and was able to play 5-6 games multiplayer! i took a chance and hoped that new patches and a new game would do the trick...was i wrong or what! same s**t all over again...love the game but the AI is no human, realy sorry the medieval game looks great, but i think i have to pass on the other titels in this series because of the problem with multiplayer, if i only knew what the problem was!! have tried everything.

Can you be more specific about the problems you are having? Are you running any firewalls (especially software firewalls on your machine). The system uses basic internet connectivity and so it's quite hard to block the connections, but it is probably what is happening if you can't log in.
If you can post your system specs as well that would be very useful.

Hi,
I have also the same problem. When I try to run Multiplaye game, I have the message box error : Please wait ... launching client and the game is frozen.
My Windows firewall is off and I have Avast scan with protection on normal.

I've been posting about this issue for a while. It seems to be entirely random when it works and when it doesn't so long as you power your computer all the way off between sessions -- however what I can guarantee is that for me at least -- is that if I power or restart my computer - the next time I try to start up FOG the game will freeze on this screen. If you keep your computer in sleep mode (or hibernate) instead of restarting/shutting all the way down, this issue doesn't occur (at least not for me). It's not an idea solution, but after getting the game working, that's a way to prevent the issue of having the game hang up on the launching client screen. It also doesn't answer the question as to why it's happening. The fact that more people are experiencing the problem (which is definitely not related to the firewall or router since it happens with the firewall disabled and the computer connected directly to the cable modem), makes me think that there is a bit more to it then just something isolated to my system alone.
I've posted everything I can about the problem in the other post, but haven't had much success. They seem to be working on it -- but I think Slitherine is having issues isolating what may be causing the problem (really difficult to do with the number of computer set ups out there).
Just thought I'd throw that link out to you Ondern so you can see what we've done so far.
Multiplayer problem

I have had the same problem...I went to the task manager feature and began shutting down everything on my user page, eventually the computer rebooted from my activities and the multiplayer feature worked...I checked with a friend, who has designed software and understands it. He suspects since the only problem I am having with any of my software is FOG, that the game has anti piracy software that resides in your computer that interferes with the computer when you try to go through the web to get to the multiplayer function (since the AI games work fine)...

There is no anti piracy software in FoG. All it has are serial numbers. However virus protection programs sometimes prevent games from doing what they are supposed to do. Can you try adding it to the safe list for your virus checker.

It's definitely not a virus scanner issue - my firewall and virus scanner are the same program, so when I disabled my firewall/virus scan program and restarted my computer after it still had issues. The other topic link that I posted has about 3 pages of this stuff that I've tried and was suggested to try. It's a weird, weird issue that seems to have no rhyme or reason because it seems to fix itself. The only 'consistent' that I have is that once it works, if I do not restart or shut down the computer it will always work from that point forward. Just as soon as I restart or shut down though the game goes back to the same issue.
Simple but expensive solution

hi,
I don't understand anything to this issue. I have stopped my antivirus and my firewall on my desktop and I can reach to connect during 2 days but now "same player shoot again" and I can't play again.
In the same time, I can play with my laptop without problems , they are only a very long delay between each mouse's click.
Next week, I will try again with a new desktop and an other antivirus, Wait and see !

If you don't mind me asking - is your new computer windows 7 and your old computer Windows Vista?

yes it is, my first OS' pc is Vista and I update the new one with seven.
With my second computer, I can to play now and it's okay for me but I don't know if everybody can have 2 pc at home.
I hope that this problem will be resolved with the next version of FOG.

There is some work going on looking at some possibilities that could occur on systems which display odd behaviour. The problem here is that it seems to be happening on a very small subset of systems, with no real common causes. But we're going to try some theoretical stuff and apply them in upcoming patches.

Please can everyone who has the issue where the game gets stuck at "launching client" update to version 1.2.5, and try multiplayer again.
We've made some changes that will hopefully fix this issue, at least for some people.
If it still doesn't work, please post again, describing what happens and specifically mentioning that you were in version 1.2.5.
Thanks

I can't do your test now because I can't use multiplayer game without patch 1.25 and I can't download the patch .
File seems to be corrupted during the download according to a message box and when I delete it and I try again, download is made in 1 second

and the same error message box come again.
Perhaps with a zipped file ? or a mirror site ? .....

The patch file is there but demand for it may be very high. Maybe try in a couple of hours - others are downloading it fine so we know it works.

Try clearing your internet cache as it might be just grabbing the corrupted version when you tell it to re-download.
