UBoat Deadzone

Interesting note for the use of uboats, particularly in GS. There is an air coverage deadzone over the central Atlantic:

Unless and until the Allies can put CVs in that area, this is a great place to do as much damage as possible, without risking air attack.

Caveats: the map above shows coverage at range 17 for strategic bombers, which is where the Allies will be in the middle of the game, usually. Later, they will be up to 19, and that makes this zone more line a ribbon. At the same time, the range of CVs moves up from 3 to 5 to 7, which means a couple of CVs can blanket most of the area.

yep, there's a definite science to using u-boats effectively!

Of course some regions like the Azores only allow 1 STR to base so a wolfpack can still operate effectively in that area....

Also, it is useful to occaisionally operate out of the "dead-zone" to remind the allied player to base some air there, otherwise the tendancy is for the allied player to move the air elsewhere if the German player becomes too wedded to the dead-zone....

Good work. Would it be ok if we incorporated your graphic in the GS player's manual?

Sure! Go for it. Will that copy do, or would you like one with higher resolution?
