I have been a slitherine game fan for many years now and have most of the titles
I had legion Arena working on my computer for some time - then had to re-install and now find it has the proverbial 12 screens
Yes - I have loaded the vista patch and have read all the related files but nothing works
Laptop - vista home premium edition HP pavillion dv 9000 intel core and nvidia 32 bit operating system tons of memory
Any help to get my favoutite game back up and running would be most appreciated

Sorry you are having problems. If you have had to reinstall your PC make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphcis card and latest version of DirectX 9.0c. If this does nto help tell us exactly what the problem is. What you see and when.

Not spoken for a long time - thanks for the swift reply
I have the latest direct x etc
When I load the game after the video - then comes the working screen with all the options - problem is this is divided into 12 sections or squares
A common problem with vista from what I have read - but it used to work so well before and not aware I have done any upgrades etc

If it used to work then it must be something has changed on your PC. I'd guess it must be the drivers for the graphics card or a setting on your grpahics card. It's a bit tricky to know what else to suggest as the game used to work

I am thinking of buying Great Battles of Rome - would I get the same Vista problem as I have read its similar in some aspects to Legion Arena?

It is possible as it uses similar technology and you will have seen much of the game before in LA. To be safe I would go straight for Great Battles Medieval or Field of Glory. These are our latest releases and really proving popular!

The tiling issue is caused by broken nVidia drivers. Older driver versions don't suffer from the problem. IIRC if you can roll back to 186 or so then the problems will go away, but then you have to ensure Vista doesn't try and helpfully update them for you! It's certainly not idea - we have a bug report in, but no timeline for any kind of fix.

GBoR would suffer from the same issue as Arena as they use a very similar codebase.
