Thanks to all who applied - the Beta test is now closed and has begun!

Will you be acknowedging receipt of application either here or via email? (Sometimes when I send off an email with no acknowledgment that it arrived, I get to wondering if it simply vanished into the ether).

We will do, but not for another couple of weeks. We want to give time for everyone to get their applications in. If you received a message from the spam filter asking to confirm you're a real person, then it will have got through. If not, then you may want to resend.

I have been trying to get my mind round that statement... if I did NOT receive a message from your spam filter it is likely that it decided I was spamming you and just deleted the mail???

Or does no "please confirm you are living and breathing" mean that I am ok?

OK, I didn't get a message from your spam filter, so I better see about resending. Tha's one reaason I posted question, since it seems anything from this forum ends up being called spam by my ISP and I cant seem to get that changed.

My spam filter auto sends out a challenge mail to anynoe who mails me to verify you are real and not spam. Your own spam filter may have deleted this....

I get around 1k-2k spam a day and it just isn't possible to deal with it all manually. I do check from time to time and see if there is any real mail but with thousands of mails to search through it's easy to miss some.

The problem is that if I have approved you as a sender, then it will no longer challenge your e-mails so resending would not generate a new e-mail so you still wouldn't know if it came thorugh....

Urgh its a bit messy. We will let everyone now when we have sent out the acceptance mails, so maybe wait till you see that post here and if you do not receive anything, resend. We'll be lenient about accepting late entry because of these issues

Next time we'll set up some sort of form to accept them, but the website is in redesign at the moment and I don't want to distract them from the real jobs at hand!

Unfortunately there is no way to tie up hidden e-mail addresses from a forum and use them to auto approve mails from those senders for a spam filter run by a 3rd parties website.
