Just a quick question, that may have already been answered

Do base with the spearmen POA cancels out enemy swordsmen and lancer POA, even if the battle group is not two ranks deep?

Yes, you don't have to qualify for the Spear POA (by being two ranks deep) in order to cancel these. You do need to be Steady.
