Hey
New FoG player, just starting my first army, and will be doing an arab army from Swords and Scimitars
As I live in New Zealand it is rather difficult to get good looking cost effective models
Can anyone recommend some manufacturers or sites I could buy from? (mostly mamluks, armoured lancers, and whatever else arab figures i want in my army)
Thanks
Sam

Well I have a list of manufacturers here -
http://www.endoftime.pwp.blueyonder.co. ... pliers.htm - and a lot of those do Arabs of one sort or another. If you're looking for 15mm then Essex, Outpost, Donnington, Legio Heroica and Irregular all spring immediately to mind.
The boy Porter at
http://www.madaxeman.com/index.php also has some very useful listsings.

Well, I just posted some pictures on my new Ancients gaming blog - Sword and Sandal Gaming. These are all of painted Ghilman, lancers and Bedouin cavalry - all from Khurasan miniatures that I'm using for a Syrian States army from Swords and Scimitars. I think they came out pretty good, and you might want to check them out. The link to the blog is shown below.

Khurasan and Legio heroica are IMO the "best" these days, but neither are especially inexpensive.

If its cost effective good looking models you want then go directly to Old Glory 15s. They have a 40% off sale at the moment plus their figures are only half the price of some of the other brands.
I have a large arab army using mostly OG15 and can vouch for they quality.

figures from Legio Heroica are wonderfull.
Even if it could be strange, I use also some CV and LH from AB (they are fro Napoleonic wars but great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

On a similar note, are there any good sources for shield designs for muslim armies of the crusades era ? Any links to painted armies would also be appreciated.
