In the Empires of the Dragoon they have:
Bushi missile troops fighting behind wooden shields.

Now in reality these are Ashigaru fighting behind a Tate. The Japanese version of a Pavise. My question is does this have any game bonus?? I found nothing about it in the army list. Nor did I find anything about Pavises in the rule book. They cannot be treated a portable defences since well, they are just shields not pointy stake thinks.
If we play a 650 Samurai army I will be using one of these units tonight against some Chinese/Mongol thing. If we go 800 points I will not have to worry about it.

Thanks, I will sit down and wait for my answer

They can be armoured because of it? You will find counting as armoured is otherwise a pretty rare thing for missile armed foot.

Don't have EoD handy, but I suspect the shields are addressed in their armor rating (e.g., Protected). I am pretty sure that some Medieval crossbowmen that upgrade to Protected do so because of pavises.

Thought so. Just was not sure. Since I have some really cool Tate's I may put them out just for looks.

I guess my guys have really good Tate's as I made them all armored. I just had a fear of the moving slower or set them up etc, etc.

Thanks,
