Sorry for this completely noob question, but is it the case that you can only wheel a BG within 6" of an enemy if the BG or battleline has a general with it?

Nothing that simple :D

Any BG/BL can wheel within 6MU of the enemy, however, if Undrilled they need to either pass a CMT to do so or have a commander with it. Drilled can wheel within 6MU without having to pass a CMT and can do so without a commander with it.

Sorry another question, do undrilled cavalry and skirmishers have to test as well?

THanks,

It's not even that simple, as also skirmishers and undrilled cavalry or light chariots don't need to pass a CMT.

No, as per my post above.

Basically:

Drilled
Skirmishers
Undrilled cavalry and light chariots

Don't need a CMT when wheeling within 6MU of enemy. Any other troop type will need a CMT, unless with a general.

Thank you for the simple explanation to the not-so-simple 'rules'!!!
