I'm working up the graphics for some shield decals I'm going to make for my Selucid pike. Any thoughts on what I have so far?

I'm also thinking of doing a faux 3-D shading/shadow decal that I could apply over silver/bronze shields that would give them the appearance of having the star embossed into the metal since most 15mm shields have simple smooth surfaces. I'm still working on this one. So far everything I've done has looked too 'fake'. My next try I may model it in my 3-D CAD and use the CAD output as guide to make the shading decal. Or I could use this image I found on the Internet that I cropped and cleaned:

I believe the Selucid shield pattern was the the 'upturned anchor', so something like the picture below. Now don't as me how common this was and whether this really was the case:

In my humble opinion the golden ones are the best. If you don't like the printed version, you have another option. Although harder to do, you can think of doing a small mold of that shape and then reproducing those shild patterns. There is this product, "Moldmaker" from Sculpeym cheap in the US (not so cheap in Spain,

) that can be used for simple designs like the one you are showing.
By the way, are you planning to print them in decal special paper or somewhere else? How are you doing that? It is just that I am also considering to do that, but not sure if it is too hard to do.

Nice looking embossed pattern, Macedonian stars are always good.
Apart from the upturned anchor you could think about an elephant and also a god like head for Antiochus - something akin to what LBMS has done for Alexander. Another option would be a crescent moon and the star. Laurel wreath could also be a possibility. Eagle with a snake in its claws was used in the post Alexander period and may have lingered on.
If you have a copy of the WRG Armies and Enemies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars on p113 there are a host of shield patterns.

In fact I do....I'll check it. Thanks. Sometimes I rely on the Internet too much and forget my library!
