Hi,

I've just been playing the Trebia game against Triarius and at one point near the end my Cavalry attacked the rear of one of his LH (I think - may have been cavalry) and it just rotated round to face and took normal front damage, with no rear penalties. I had spent the previous go encircling it so it couldn't evade... so a bit disappointing. Of course, this is the only reason I lost  OK, it may be because I'm no Hannibal

I unit that is not otherwise engaged with turn to face it attackers. If you look in the factors you will still have had the rear attack benefits if you started from behind the enemy rear. See Flanks and Rear in the help section.
