Sometimes the evaded icon appears next to light troops before any evasion has occurred in that player turn. I noticed it again in a Ticinus scenario in multiplayer yesterday but am fairly certain it has occurred in other ones too.

Could these not be evades from impetuous charges? Keith

Not all, if any. I've just had a repeat example in a Great Plains game where all the Numidian cavalry started a turn with an E and they were in their original forward positions from my previous turn. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a screenprint but will try to do so if it reoccurs.

I believe all units that will evade during a replay start with the E -- sort of a preview.

Good point. Just noticed that was the case on a current replay (another game).

I raised this point before - it's only window dressing, but it spoils the surprise as you watch the replay.

Personally, I'd prefer it if the opening screen you get (where you get the 'watch replay' or not watch buttons presented) to be blank until the buttons are pressed. For me it can spoil the surprise element of watching the replay if you already see the end of turn points and positions. I'm a little sad here because I squint as I open the game so that I can't see the score and end setup before pressing the watch replay button

So, save my embarrassment, hide the screen until the buttons are pressed
