I am not asking for eye candy, but I think that the existing graphics in this game are horrible, I can't even tell what I'm looking at--many of the unit types look like some kind of insect...

Are there any graphic mods out there which allow you to tell more easily what you are looking at? Even simple 2D symbols would be fine...

Well, i find the miniatures used for the graphics pretty nice and varied.
My only gripe is that they aren't rendered at somewhat higher quality so they don't get pixelated when one use the higher zoom level.
Was this lower resolution rendering done because of some game engine constraint?? the game don't look graphic card intensive at all...
It woudl be great if the current units graphics could be sharpened somehow so we could better appreciate the figurines details.

heh heh, only a slight exaggeration IMHO! I usually play zoomed out a bit, and with few exceptions I cannnot determine what a unit is by looking at the unit "miniatures", especially once the lines crash together--I have to scroll over them to see what they are.
