Happened to catch the Spartan vs Ninja episode the other day, which claimed that Spartan Hoplites threw javelins?!

We weren't invooved in the making of the episode, just providing the engine for them to simulate their combats. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of otherwise of this statement but they do have researchers so I would have thought there must be some evidence for it. Maybe not in battle, or maybe only rarely?

Certainly those were not Spartan hoplites. It is hard to throw a javelin with such a big shield. But as they saw it in 300...
