GS weather effects and air units

I'm a bit confused about weather effects and air units. For example if I have an air unit in the central zone and its winter, but I'm bombing a hex in the med, which is clear, which weather effects apply (and vice-versa)? Also, is strategic bombing in Mud/Winter pointless? Thanks!

I think I can answer but maybe Ronnie or another authority can confirm.

Plane gets weather effect for hex it is based in. So if airfield is winter, then winter effects apply.

As for strategic bombing, I'm not sure but I generally don't fly planes much in bad weather as Axis since I want to conserve oil. As allies I bomb in all weather.

That is correct. Also remember that mountain hexes in the Med zone get the same weather as the central zone. So be careful when stationing units in mountain hexes no matter what zone they're in.

At least early in the war, I find that strategic bombing during bad weather is basically useless. You will cause little damage to cities or resources unless you get quite lucky, and you will probably suffer substantial losses doing it. Until you substantially upgrade your planes, it might be better to just rest and raise effectiveness for spring, or go sub hunting.
