Blocked Rout and Generals

General is attached to a unit, which routs in Close Combat. No rout path is
available as variable move (incl any possible shift) takes router into enemy
units.
Would this general be picked up also? There is a friendly unit w/in LH move
distance.
Rules state (p. 50) generals can only move away from routers in manoeuver and
joint phase.
Further down the page, under Units Leaving the Table it states generals are also
picked up when unit leaves the table. Is "leaving the table" only relate to
"moving off table" or does it also refer to simply being picked up? To me,
bullet one doesn't necessarily define the conditions for other bullets.
Would any loss of general in this case cause 2nd cohesion test? Or would it be
subsumed into cohesion test based on the rout itself?
Pls advise, thanks

The BG tries to rout, gets as far as it can (possibly nowhere) and then the pursuers move. If the prusuers contact the routers (highly likely) they can kill the commander on a 10+. If they fail to contact or fail to kill then the commander stays there while the BG is removed and the commander can move in the JAP as normal.

Elusive little beggars these commanders

BG routs hits enemy and is gone, now the general is on his own. I believe he can be placed with any friendly unit within his move that he can move to without going through enemy units or he is killed. Had this happen once when the general went off with the Companions, who died and he was left out in the cold deep in enemy territory so he was a goner. To kill a general on his own an enemy just has to move through him or get within range of shooting weapons and he is a goner.

Seeing general die and checking for broken friends I believe would add the -1 for more than one reason to test to any friendly BG that had the misfortune of seeing this. One roll extra -1 modifier.

If the routers don't move at all and the commander dies in the pursuit it would mean 2 CTs for nearby troops.

The first for seeing the BG break and then another for seeing the commander killed in the pursuit.

One test at -1 would only happen here if the BG breaks and the commander dies in the combat,.
