Britcon 2010

Hi all,

I'm thinking of crossing the pond for Britcon this year (the one in August, not April) and given the planning involved I wanted to make sure that I did everything correctly so that I didn't show up with my toys and not be able to play. My questions, in order, are:

1. Is there any sort of qualification requirement?
2. When must one register by, and by what method?
3. Is there any chance of being bumped once registered?

If anyone can either answer these questions or point me toward someone who can, I would greatly appreciate it.

Matt

I'll answer since i'm first
1. Being able to reach Manchester, even with assistance is qualification enough. Most Southerners need some help North of Watford.
2. Sooner is always better but entry info is not even up yet. A month before would be safe IMO
3. If coming from the states no. If you made that amount of effort you could have my place.

best place to go is the BHGS site

Don't know what type of accomodation your after, but the on site places are good for those outside Manchester. Its close to the tables and theres bars on site as well. If its the same as last year getting there for the practice days is good, gives you a chance to meet other players. Nope you can make it.

If you need help feel free to either ask here or pop a line to JD, Nik or myself who are on the Britcon organising team.

You would be very welcome.

I can vouch for the help Hammy provides. I had a slim chance of going last year and only found that out very late and pestered Hammy with no end of very late questions which were all dealt with politely and effeciently - just don't ask him where to buy dice. :)

All being well I will be there. Time off work booked and pennies saved, now just got to rack up some brownie points with my better half.

Thanks for all the advice guys. If I come, I'll probably try to come in a day early for some practice and to recover from the jet lag (I don't think anyone will want me going narcoleptic on top of their figures), and I'll definitely be in touch as things get closer with more questions on accomodations, etc.

I'd suggest asking, and then going somewhere else.

If you keep rolling 3 x 6 at the crucial moment, all is lost :P
