Command structure

BGs can benefit from any general as far as they are inside the command range of that general.

That means that there is no special ties between a BG and its original commander, which appears unrealistic and unhistorical to me.

Is it the same in the TT FoG game ?

Yes, it is the same in the TT game. The one exception are allied generals which will only affect BGs in the allied contingent (and is the only general that will).

Generals here represent the highest level of command, legions commanders or the likes are not represented on the TT or the PC game. It should not seem odd for Caesar to run about telling anyone under his command what to do and have them listen to him now should it?

Well no. But he's the overall commander. One could see him being a bit miffed if the likes of Antony or Sulla started running about ordering any old unit whether under their command or no. Same with Alexander and Parmenion/Nicanor/Coenus etc. Sub commanders should be restricted in which units they may influence (and if those units move outside their influence and not into that of the c-in-c, then hefty penalties should apply). In an ideal world.

I tried many scenarios and I didn't see any allied BG having to stay close to their general to get its bonus advantage. Whenever I move an allied BG near a non allied general, it gets its bonus (and the little hand disappears).

Not sure that allies applies to FOG PC.
Also not sure any of the current armies even have an allied force in them. Having the army list books that cover the armies so far I am not sure that outside of the Caesar in Britain with some Gauls that any other forces could are actually not just made up of core troops.
Even the Selucids had a super wide variety of core troops they can choose for their armies, almost makes allies pointless since they don't really give you anything that you don't already have a lot of anyway.

I think the Aetolian League troops on the Roman right flank in Cynocephalae should be an allied contingent but aren't set up that way in the scenario. And I can't think of any other scenarios that include an allied general/contingent either.

Not sure there is any allied only programming in the PC game yet. Perhaps that is something that is going to come along down the line. Not sure how easy it is to programe into the game "this unit is not under your command and you cant influence it".... :?:

I would expect it ought to be included with the Rise of Rome add on at any rate. Seems like it would really be important for proerly supporting the army lists.

There is no allied settings in the core game. In RoR units will only get support from a general of their own list. So gallic on the roman list, effectively as subject troops or mercenaries, use roman generals but gallic troops bought allong with an gallic allied general will only get support from their own allied general.
