Trained units change direction but can't move to

Trained units can change facing direction before moving and after having moved. That's great.
But if a trained unit is facing East, for example, at the beginning of the turn and change direction to the West before moving, it can not move toward West because the allowed destinations remain those facing East. The computer doesn't reset the movement possibilities.
This seams a default that has to be repaired, isn't it ?

This is by design - it is intended to stop you charging to your rear.

Always easier to move forwards, takes time to change face and rumble off in a new direction.
How many more advantages do you want to give the drilled armies anyway??

But I think that if you just move to the rear, e.g. just click to move the east facing BG to the west, you can move as far in that direction as you can forward with a drilled unit and you will end up facing in the direction you moved. So while it may seem slightly anomalous in game terms that you can't do a facing change and then move in that direction, it doesn't restrict your movement other than moving into combat with enemy which is an intentional restriction to only being able to charge through the initial two front hex sides.

IMO this limitation matches the TT rules - even drilled BG's cannot turn 180% & move. To turn 90% & move requires passing a CMT first.

But the PC game does allow drilled troops to turn and move their full allowance to the rear and then turn back again. This is even more generous than the TT rules allow for skirmishers let alone any other troops. A major difference between the PC and the TT rules. The PC game effectively allows what the original post in this list asks for, just not by explicitly changing face before moving. If you just indicate to move to the drilled units rear, the BG will do so and automatically perform the facing change. You just can't charge to the rear.

Sometimes I just don't spot the obvious - you're right & should not be allowed IMO.
