Neo-Babs cavalry?

Neo-Babylonians don't have lots of cav, but they can have some Assyrian-type guard cav and also some unprotected type guys. What cav would you be more likely to take, the unprotected guys or the guard type?
It's not strictly either/or, as you can take all the guards and still have 4 bases of the junk cav, or vice versa. Any thoughts on this? What sort of cav force works best with the army? Thanks.

Does this mean that we can expet Neo-Babylonian offerings to the gods from Khurasan???? If so, I'm a buyer! I've been planning to expand the Babylonian auxiliary regiment of my Persian army into an army to oppose the Persian....or maybe just to be revolting.

By the way, it's really whether one wants 2 BG of guards and 1 BG of average cavalry or 1 BG guards / 2 BG average. My preference would be the former (2 BG Guard / 1 BG average). There's not a lot of stuff in the army that can provide punch and I would and the combined value of armour / superior that comes with the guards versus unprotected / average . For 800 pts you can pretty much get everything you want and pad the rest with rubbish archers. The difference in points between guard and average cavalry really only means 1 more rubbish archer unit when you already have enough tripping over themselves.
Taking the an Average...er, Median ally provides 1-3 more BG of cavalry with the option of some being protected, superior or average. I will be interested in seeing how well this combination does against a late Neo-Assyrian army.

I'm sorry but I don't remember if Neo-Babylonians is the last Babylonian army of the relative book.
If so I'm used to play with 2 BG's of superior armoured bow* cavalry.
They are good for protecting flanks of HCH and also for skirmishing (for that reason my suggestion is also to use Skythian ally with some LH's).

Yes it is the last army list in the book.
They are good for protecting flanks of HCH
They can also provide rear support for the HCH while the average cavalry can't.

The armoured guards are pretty important so most lists I make would likely have 1 or 2 BGs of them. I would consider using 1 to 2 BGs of the average guys though depending on how I chose to round out the army.

If your going to be on the receiving end of lots of bows, I would suggest any kind of armour is better than non as your opponent gets a ++ on unprotected cav not in a single rank.......for what its worth.
