Grand Strategy: North Africa / Middle East Supply Questions

1. Has anyone ever captured Malta? How did you do it? In Vanilla it was hard, but in GS it seems impossible due to the limitation of two air attacks per hex. I've managed to bring the garrison down to 3 steps with air and naval bombardment, but a string of unsuccessful attacks brought them back to 9 - and then I needed my airforce elsewhere.
2. Which region exactly is affected by the Axis limited supply rule (i.e., what countries constitute "Middle East" in the game)? Does it include Turkey, Iraq, Persia?
Thanks for information and sorry if this has been answered someplace else - without the search function it's difficult to find stuff...

It sounds like you were doing what you needed to do before you had to redeploy the the Luftwaffe. You just need to slog it out and captured the fort. Once the fort is captured you can then attack the airbase with a ground unit in addition to 1 air unit.

I think at least Iraq is! I just invaded Iraq coming from Turkey, and all of a sudden I had to pay 56PPs because of exceeding Axis supply limit. I think this needs to be changed, because I hold Turkey and can even rail into Iraq (from Turkey). Under these conditions, the Axis supply limit does not make sense.

Iraq & Iran Supply limits

Hi , I've just invaded Iran and then Iraq as the Axis, Iran was ok, but when I invaded Iraq I got a PP Hit. It's definetely my Iraqi forces that are being counted , since I've only got three garrisons in North Adrica.
Should this be changed ?, since as I understand it, this limit was introduced to simulate the problems that the Axis would have supplying their armies across the med. Even though of course , in real life any attack on Iraq & Iran would have had it's own supply problems, I think that these would be simulated with the existing mechanisms, without making it even more difficult by including the North Africa Supply limit.

I've made some changes to the GS code so it's possible to set in general.txt which countries in Africa and the Middle East will be affected by Axis Med supply.
I made 3 states you can set for each country.
0: Country never affected
1: Country always affected
2: Country affected, but not if Ankara (capital of Turkey) is Axis controlled
Then I set the following values for each country:
0: Turkey
1: Free France, Vichy France, Libya and Egypt
2: Syria, Iraq and Persia
So with these changes you don't pay Med supply cost for units in Syria, Iraq or Persia if you control Turkey as the Axis. This simulates that the Axis send rail supply using the Turkish rail network to supply countries bordering Turkey.
These changes are now being tested in the GS developer group and will be added to the next GS version. I think this should take care of what was described above.

I always feel a little guilty when bombing Paris, my fiance is French and her family still lives there...

Wait until you get married and let us know how you feel about it then.
