Playing as Allied, twice I have had the game seize. If I hold Jerry off in France, around August 1941 the AI can't seem to cope with not being able to declare war on the USSR.
Also, by holding Germany back in Russia, trading space for time, whilst building mobile forces and then attacking in 1942, poor old Jerry can't cope and the game stops. I landed in France, while also the Yanks invaded North Africa, and the Aussies knocked the Italians out of Tobruk etc. It seems the AI can't handle things happening out of the Historical perspective.
Is this a bug?

Just a weak AI. That's why playing PBeM and TCP/IP are so popular here. Any good player can defeat the AI rather handily. Although, at the higher levels, the amount of AI advantage can make an interesting game.

Our GS expansion development focused primarily on PBEM and hotseat play. Not attempt was made to improve the AI. With that said we did fix bugs that were identified with the AI. Play against the AI accounted for less than 5% of our testing.
If you can repeat the freezes and provide us with details then we may be able to fix the issue. More specifically, if you can start GS from the console and provide us with the messages from there that would be the most help. To run GS from the console see,
