Wow! It's Christmas again! :D

Just a question: what are you going to do about online games between a player with the expansion and another one without it?

You will be able to play each other - we just need to work out the logisitics.

Hmm baggage camps

Baggage camps which appear in battle and can be looted for bonus points. Some armies are allowed to fortify their baggage.

Is that a feature in the miniatures game as well?

Camps are a requirement in the table top rules, with fortified camps being optional and/or required depending on the army list.

Great news, but I miss the Illyrians. They are the only army who is in the Rise of Rome book but not in this list...

Rise of Rome covers a narrow though popular slice of history but seems to come with tools to design a far wider range of scenarios. The key question is how many further expansions are required to allow players to design scenarios of particular interest up to 1500, and what is the total cost of ownership going to be?

...counts number of FoG army books...

But as long as the game works where the expansions don't restrict someone playing who doesn't have it....should be fine. I have three or four of the army books, but no interest in the rest of them. I'd be willing to pay for a couple more PC expansions, but wouldn't want all of them. As long as the base game remains the same, am happy.

Great news!
The army builder aspect is exactly what the game needs.

Hurrah and all that, but...

no armies from the time of Herodotus, Thucydides and Xenophon... no Spartans...

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo :(

Gotta admit, huge disappointment, but I think it's a great game and will definitely be pre-ordering.

EDIT: wait, although the list of new armies doesn't include them, it appears that they might be in: "6 new battles from the Greek & Persian wars, Macedonian & Punic War's and from Rome’s expansion." You can't really have the battle of Plataea without new units for Sparta and all that.

Great news for an already superb game that's going to be ever better.
The guys at Slitherine and Hexwar are really doing an excellent work!
Just one question:
when the expansion will be avaliable for us fanatics?

Total price seems rich for game software, and Rise of Rome is a period I think I've already overgamed. Plus it's best to see if the most annoying bugs are patched first.

A key question is if the releases will be in the same order as the books.

February!

I have full confidence in Slitherine and I trust that they will give the game a needed patch. Also, the (pre-order) price seems fair if you compare it to the amount of extra stuff in it. An army maker seems great and I would really like to try the LOS system (Lake tarismaine anyone?).

The only thing I would be waiting for is some cut-scenes which tells all the battles together, thinking a bit Legion Arena here. I guess the seasoned TT gamers have no need at all for such an addition. THe new player however, could use this mode to bridge the gap between a regular pc game and the TT games.
