Hi ,
happy new year from france.
Just a question : P 108 bullet 3 : " pursuers follow routers , whelling if necesseray to do so...."
Can you wheel in pursuit to avoid Enemy ? ? for example if a routing BG shift to avoid friend , can the pursuers make wheel to renew contact whith the routers and so avoid the enemy BG on the routing path ?

Pursuers cannot wheel to avoid other enemy BGs but they can take a CMT to stop and avoid contact.

Presumably they can wheel if necessary to follow routers and hence avoid other enemy as a side-effect.

Just to sidetrack this a little, does a victorious BG pursue if their opponants Auto-break ?
We played it that they didn't - is that correct ?

Yes they DO pursue.
Troops that auto-break are not removed until the end of the JAP. Until then they rout and are pursued as normal.

Yes but only if they couln't contact the routers without wheeling which probably means that they won't be able to as when the pursuers hit a new opponent their move becomes a charge and can step forwards.

Can a pursuing battle group move straight ahead and maintain contact with an initial routing bg that is wheeling to get away from 2 opposing units?
Or must it wheel to increase the amount of contact as ruled by that movie star New Orleans attorney?

If it can maintain contact with the routers by moving straight instead of wheeling yes it can, the rules state it has to try to maintain contact with the routers wheeling if necessary to do so. Wheels in pursuit are not mandatory only keeping contact with the routers is.

My reading is that a pursuing BG cannot wheel at all if a move straight ahead would contact the routers.
It may wheel if neccessary
