Problem Solved

Well I did it thanks in part to Possum's great suggestion. I don't know how everyone else finally accomplished this that had problems witht this scenario but, at the start of the battle I sent my commander out ahead of the others and behind the advancing enemy. He locked with and killed the enemy leader and, this was after the 1:50 limit had expired. I think he did this in 1:48 or somewhere along there. The important thing is he did and, I then directed the remainder of my forces on to defeat the remainder of the Syrans or whatever they were to win the battle. I've ran into one more tough campaign since then and got slaughtered the first time around until I guessed at what to do. Somehow I got through that one without having to yell for help. The Ambush at Cypsela has to be one of the toughest and hardest to figure out scenarios I ever played, however. I guess this is what sets this game apart from so many of the others. If you don't stop and think, then analyze your options you loose. Brute forces and superior numbers are great but, they don't get it in this one every time. Even when we are fortunate enough to have a superior force and not be outnumbered. I've never had a game cause me to sweat before until this one but, it does at times. I suppose at 59 years old I really am too old for this sort of thing but, game playing is so much fun I just can't seem to give it up.
