I must be doing something wrong in my downloading, I save the scenarios into the hexwar file for FOG but can't access any of the downloads in game. Would appreciate some help on where they are supposed to be going so I can actually try them out thank you :?

The default for custom scenarios is not in the Slitherene folder for the game in any programme folders it appears to be this file path.

My Documents/Slitherine/FieldofGlory Scenarios/"Name of Scenario"/Data

There also appear to be 4 data files required.
So a scenario called Adrianople would have the four files in

My Documents/Slitherine/FieldofGlory Scenarios/Adrianople/Data

I suggest that you use the scenario editor to create a custom scenario - basic details only - and see where your system saves the new files.
Then copy that structure for any downloaded custom scenarios.

Hope this helps

After spending some time this morning with this same problem, I finally noticed the "custom game" check box in the dialog to select a scenario. In case someone else has been similarly blind about noticing this, you need to check the box to see the custom scenarios.

On my Vista system DAG armies and saved games are stored at /Users/myname/Documents/Slitherine/FieldOfGlory Armies and /FieldOfGlory Saved Games respectively. But the downloaded custom scenarios I put into /Users/myname/Documents/Slitherine/FieldOfGlory Scenarios do not appear on the custom game option of the new game window.
Also, when I create a new scenario, although it is written to the folder mentioned above, I get an error message "Sorry, failed to create a new scenario".
Can anyone help?

The path for scenarios is (Vista/Seven):

c:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\Slitherine\FieldOfGlory Scenarios\

Each scenario should have is own folder in there. Do not drop the archived (.zip or .rar) scenario in there, but unpack them into that folder. All scenario archives should have all its files into a folder, and as far as know, i haven't yet met any wrongly distributed player scenario.

After you do that, in order to play them, you need to start your game, select NEW Game from the main interface, and from the Game Type dropdown (which by default is set on Historical Game), select the Custom Game option. A list with all your valid custom scenarios from the c:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\Slitherine\FieldOfGlory Scenarios\ should appear in there.

Just select one, and play.

thanks, its working now. I had done everything right except that the .zip files were in the FieldOfGlory folder along with the folders for each scenario.

Quick question:

In order to make a custom scenario playable in online multiplayer, do both opponents have to download the files or is it enough that just one of us has it installed?

Both players need to download it.

I think that provided that the challenger has the file the opponent does not need it.

I'm currently playing through a string of custom scenarios with stockwellpete that exist only on my pc, and we have had no multiplayer problems with them.

I can confirm this, only the challenger (the guy that sets up the challenge) needs to actually have the file installed. Really a cool feature , I just found out about it a couple weeks ago
