2 questions after 1st time playing

Hi all-
We've just tried FoG for the 1st time this past weekend, Teutonics vs. Poles from Oath of Fealty using the starter armies. We really enjoyed the game, but had 2 questions that came up.
1) For # of dice in combat, do you round down or round up?
2) The Polish list has Russian cavalry listed, but they are not listed as lancers or light spear, just with bows. Is this a typo, or are these 3/base horse archers only? I'm a little confused as to what this BG are supposed to be.
Thanks all for your help!

Neither really. You lose dice for every x number of dice depending on your cohesion or disorder. The FAQ explains it quite well:

You mean the superior, armoured cavalry with bow and sword? They're undrilled, but you'll find them quite good
They skirmish when in single rank. They have no impact capability, but are good in melee (avoid knights though). Shooting is what they do mainly though, then charge if the enemy go disrupted or fragmented.

Which essentially works out to 'rounding up', but it's better to do the math the way the FAQ describes. It's less confusing.

Again, thanks. My opponent had the book, and we didn't catch the sword capability.

Peter's macro point is correct.
But technically they have an "impact capability" just that is not their strong suit.
The get to roll in impact and against MF and LF they get a POA.

They only get a POA against MF, Hazelbark. The extra dice against LF are advantage enough.

No, also against LF. I think it's a "Just to make sure" POA.

Has to be in open ground and they get it for both MF and LF.
One of the reasons my lancers enjoy charging down scummy infantry that is not heavy.

Thank you Peter, to think we let Marc umpire events over here. Perhaps you should come over.

I think he confused it with the CT modifier perhaps?

He can't be any worse than me umpiring, believe me...

Maybe I was confusing the POA with the CT modifier. Maybe I don't have my rule book with me here in the office, and should shut the hell up on rules questions as a result.
On the other hand, maybe I was just testing you.
