Evading question.

I'm currently playing a multiplayer game and something has occurred i have a question about.
Indistavio scenario.
I just charged some Roman aux archers ( average/ drilled/ protected medium foot) with some German warriors ( average, undrilled, protected heavy foot).
The combat percentage was very high in my favour and yet, they did not evade?
Even the POA was ++ for me.
The aux archers were out of command i wonder if this was why they didn't evade?
They clearly didn't have any chance of winning such a combat.
Then i charged the neighbouring aux archer which was in command radius, same values as above and it didn't evade either.
Why?
Thanks for your help.

Only light infantry can evade, not medium.

I see!
Just because its an archer doesn't necessarily mean its a skirmisher :D
Thank you.

No problem.
I was just checking out the manual and it also looks like missle armed Medium foot gets a few more "attacks" during the missle combat portion than light infantry (which should help offset their lack of ability to evaid)

**also noted that per same part of the manual that Medium bow infantry gets 5 attacks @ impact combat!!?? (I assume that is just an error in the manual)

No, I do not think it's an error and assume that it represents support shooting from a rear rank in the table top game.

Ahh, point blank massed fire right before contact!

I would imagine the 5 attacks would refer to 5 dice which would include rear rank support fire from the TT game.
