Grand Strategy - Says Java.exe missing

I have CEAW Slitherine version patched to 1.12. I have downloaded and installed the new free MOD Grand Strategy. However when i try to launch it it says Java.exe. is missing and then looks for it. Once found it fixes it. However when I launch the game I can see no differences in the map or units. I tried the Java.exe patch but that had no effect.
Any suggestions?

The GS expansion will add a new set of shortcuts - are you running from those shortcuts, not the old ones?
If you use the old shortcuts it will run the original game.

Also, when installing be sure to locate your original installation. It assuems you have MH CEAW v1.12. If you have the original CEAW version you need to locate the install folder for that on your PC before running the installer as the old installers do not have the information embedded in them to allow us to locate them automatically.

How is that done? I have a Matrix origional installation patched to 1.12.

You just have to find where you installed the original game to and make sure you install the GS update over the top.
I'm not sure what the default install dir for Matrix is but something like Program Files\Matrix\CEAW I would assume (unless you told it to install elsewhere).
Thanks

Thanks for the pointers so far. The origional Matrix install was at:
C:\Matrix Games\Commander Europe At War
I installed GS there.
Then I got a message that it was searching for java.exe.
I located java.exe at C:\i386 and pointed to it.
Now when the program starts a DOS window pops up for a second and goes away. And thats all! Any ideas?

You need to uninstall the GS expansion and install it to C:\Matrix Games\Commander Europe At War
Thanx

Thanks,
That did the trick. One issue remains. GS appears to have two levels of zoom where 1.12 had three levels. This may be due to me clicking the wrong box for graphic quality that came up at first launch. I tried uninstall/reinstall but that question was not asked again. Any suggestions?

I suggest you remove settings.txt so you can set High instead of Low. That should solve your problem.

Removing settings.txt causrs the program not to start! Can the setting file be edited?
