Couple newb questions.

1. It seems whenever an enemy is engaged with a friendly, my missile troops don't get the option to fire on them. It makes sense but I don't see any rule about that in the manual. Is this the case?
2. It appears that sometimes my cavalry can't charge into an enemy even though they have the facing and movement points to do so. All of the tiles within one hex of the enemy are white but not the ones adjacent, but the white hexes extend quite a bit farther out away from the enemy. Is there some rule I'm not seeing about engaging?
3. Is there a "next unit" hotkey? I'm never sure if I've moved everyone.
thanks.

It seems to be the case.

Not sure about this.

Moved units are darkened. If you look at the mini map, black squares are the ones that moved. colored squares usually can perform an action.

Regarding the cav, missile-armed (light horse) won't attack most heavy troops unless they're fragged.

Is this documented somewhere in the online rules?

In boht the table top game and the pc game you can not shoot at enemy units that are currently engaged in melee with your other troops. The idea is that you don't want to risk shooting down any of your own boys by accident with some misplaced arrows or sling shots.
As for cav not charging is it possible there is some terrain, most likely scrub, that is in the charge path that is keeping your cav from charging? If a unit is fragged it can not charge enemy units, this applies to both cav and foot units. You will notice that everything but adjacent hexes are highlighted for movement purposes.
Hope this helps.
No next unit hot key. If you look on the mini map down on the bottom right you will see non-moved units will still show as bright green squares while moved units are black. Ohter than scrolling the whole map that is the easiest option.

I think he maybe talking about complext movement tests and failures resulting in certain units not going into hex's that they should.
However i'm no expert about the tabletop game or the pc game.

Your cavalry can only charge enemy BG's that they can move adjacent to in the wedge of hexes defined by the two front sides of your BG while it is able to move in more directions than that so you can see white hexes outside that wedge as long as they are not adjacent to enemny and therefore won't initiate impact combat. By any chance is that the issue you're seeing?

If your cav is not facing towards the enemy at the start of the move you can't charge them, that might be it. Or if they just yell NO! and a little @ appears over them then they have anarchied and will not follow orders.

This is probably the issue I'm seeing. This isn't in the pc game rules is it? While the missile thing makes intuitive sense, this one doesn't necessarily.

you have to be facing an enemy to charge them, that is have them in your front arc. The benefit of drilled cavalry is that you can move them and then change their facing so it is easier to set up for the charge next turn, much harder to do with undrilled as they will more or less face in the direction they were moving in. Same applies to drilled and undrilled foot.
