Short Changed Egyptians

I am having an enjoyable time working my way through the SWIFTER THAN EAGLES army list book, but have encountered an anomaly. Old/Middle Kingdom Egyptian close fighters (pg 17) cost 7 points and have no other Close Combat weapon than "Swordsmen". In the very next army (and elsewhere), the Hyksos have 7 point close fighters that are "Light Spear and Swordsmen". The Egyptians pay the same points but don't get the "Light Spear" POA at impact. Am I missing something here? Is this a typo? Or are the Egyptians just taking it up the Nile?

Light Spear capability has an AP cost of 0 for foot.
If only someone had explained to the Egyptians how useful a javelin or two could be . . . .

Free LS is a bit odd, I have to say.
Take a look at Achaemenid foot. Immortals have two ranks of LS, bow, costing the same. Others have LS, bow front rank but only bow rear rank, yet still cost the same. Usually the lack of LS for the rear rank doesn't matter, but sometimes they will feel short-changed.
