Hi All,

I've been reading up on the Baltic Crusades and I'm interested to see that "[o]ne 13th century Swedish legal codex called the Upplandslagen specified that every footsoldier must be equipped with a shield, a sword, a helmet, a mail haulberk or other armour, and a bow with 36 arrows." Given that Norway and Sweden were more poorly equipped than Denmark I'm wondering about the leidang's rating in this list.
Now, I don't have much of a problem with the Offensive Spearmen rating (given their method of combat), and you have the option of using rear supporting Lights to give the '36 arrows' a mention, but shouldn't they be rated as, or have the option to rate as Armoured?

Additionally, the list's numbers are a bit off.

If you don't have rear supported Leidang you MUST be in BG's of 8, and the minimum number is 20. This should be errata'd to 24.
Thoughts?

FWIW the second part of your quote which I have highlighted may have some impact on the rating of the troops.

You are right about the minimum. It is a bit strange. That said there is no functional difference between a minimum of 20 and 24 so I see little point in an errata.

The point is that this is the Swedish codex. The codex for the poorer quarter of Scandanavia. All references to the armouring of Leidang is 'mail'. Incidentally, whilst it is true that poorer troops may have something similar to quilted armour the use of scale is known in Scandanavia as is plate (particularly in the form of things like greaves and body protection).
