Grand Strategy - Does History Repeat Itself?

February 1942, playing the Axis. I have to pause and consider my options. It is obvious that the tide is turning.
Initially, I made great progress: Poland - conquered, Denmark, Holland, Belgium - captured. France - under my control. The Italians managed to capture Yugoslavia, Rommel reached Cairo and the Suez Canal, my U-Boats seriously hurt Allied transports across the Atlantic ocean. Moscow seemed to be within striking distance.
But that was 1941, a year of glory. Now the year is 1942. The weather has turned foul, the Russians are bringing in reserves and even break through my lines. I can hardly contain these breakthroughs because my troops are exhausted and restricted in their mobility. The U-Boats are taking heavy losses and the Allies protect their convoys with destroyers. My industrial production is hardly sufficient to make up for the losses I am taking, not to mention the question of getting supply to my overstretched lines.
Yes, the outlook for 1942 is gloomy. Where will it all end?
In other words: I haven't had that much fun playing a strategy game against the AI for ages. I look forward to trying out alternative strategies. Grand Strategy is a winner.
