We have prepared a couple of tutorial videos to show how easy it is to get playing multiplayer and create scenarios in Field of Glory. They also give an idea of how the game looks and feels when playing which is hard to understand from screenshot or descriptions.

Multiplayer Video Tutorial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41t0ZM2rpxM

Scenario Editor Video Tutorial - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPKmgzQtLvM

Gameplay Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYnsLrox6uc

A lot of the detail has been lost after uploading to youtube but it still gives an idea of the experience.

EDIT - added a gameplay video too.

These are real nice - how will they be presented? Will they stay on the website they are on now and be linked only from the forum or are you going to place them with the game program so that new players can acces the tutorials from the menue option? I think that the in program tutorial would be a better choice to enhance the product.

We can include links to them from the in game menu but they are pretty big so would double the download size. Adding links from the start menu is a good idea though.

That would be good.

That would be good - don't want the game files to be to large.

Hi i was wondering what software you used to capture the game video.
I've tried Fraps and it crashes the game.
I also tried webcam max which allows screen video capture but the quality was awful. :(

Ok i've got it working using Growler Guncam software.
No sound however, yet.
I can always add my own commentary in windows movie maker.
I'm recording a multiplayer now.
I will post it on Youtube after i finish the game and edit it.
I uploaded some Rome Total War games before so i know what i'm doing (sort of!!) :)
Ok i've hit a problem.
The Guncam s/w saves as Xvid.
Windows movie maker won't accept Xvid. I can't edit, join and reduce the recordings for youtube. :(

Things that could be in a more advanced video:
how to undo a move and that moving to a different unit forfeits the ability
change a units facing
change facing after a move that would allow a facing change
Console information turn on for TT want to see the die rolls
Command radius button
A delay on the you have won window maybe caused by uploading the data to the rankings :)

Edit a units stats in the scenario editor
Change a General to FC or TC
Explain the scenario is not in the base FOG directory (on win7 admin access to all users was needed)

The video was captured using FRAPS but then we ran it through Windows movie maker I think. Audio was recorded sperarately and patched together. If Fraps is not working make sure your drivers are up to date & you have the latest version.

We probably wont do an advanced video as this stuff is for newcomers really. If anyoe want to post their own tutorial videos we're more than happy!

That is true if you do a combat action with that unit.
As long as you only move around units without making contact or firing any missils you can undo as many moves as you like.
All the way back to the last unit that did any fighting.

Only just spotted this. You could use Virtual Dub to recode the video into another format (even uncompressed, although it takes a lot of disk space!) and then movie maker should be able to load it fine. Having said that, I am pretty sure I have used XVid in WMM natively. Perhaps you need to grab the codec again, or do you have the 'download codec automatically' option set on Media Player?

Aren't codecs fun... ;)

Cheers
