I like the three new battles in 1..01
Just two small mistakes in the Starter2 battle. All the Seleucids are missing an 'e' [Selucid]. Also the blurb on the battle states that it is "Rome v Carthage" when it should be "Rome v Seleucids".

Sorry, Ian. That was my scenario which I was working on for my own amusement. I couldn't get it to work and sent it to Keith to find out why. Had I known it would be in a patch, I would've written a blurb, etc. Haven't got the finished game yet, but I hope the Seleucids have a better chance than does Carthage.

I noticed that keith gave you credit for making this scenario. I will have to give a a good test! Is the chance of winning 50/50? Like you say, it cant be as uneven as Starter1!

I never got a chance to play it, so I can't say if it's balanced. I just replaced Carthage with the Selukids using the starter army from Rise of Rome. Next, I intend to replace Rome with someone else to face the Selukids.

Okay, so I broke down and bought a copy so I could play the scenario. Pikes and cats stood up to the Roman bullies quite well, but it was a narrow win. Now, I wonder how this would be against a human? I've posted a challenge if there are any takers.

Any blurb on the game would be great. The scenario editor shows the VP's and it seems fairly balanced. Just cut and paste the game from the program files/slitherine/field of glory/games folder to the my documents/slitherine/field of glory/scenarios created folder to edit.
Doh! Typo's in the next update ...

I'll write something up. Diabolical of you to include my scenario. Thanks for the cradit. I also discovered one of the Silver Shields is MF. My bad.
I'll redo this with leader names, correct intro, and proper spelling and resubmit it. What did I do wrong to make the original not work?

I wondered why one Argyraspid could move faster than the rest. Hadn't noticed it was MF instead of HF. I've played the scenario twice so far and won with the Seleucids twice. Both times the pikes have seemed more brittle than I have found them on the table but overall the Seleucids seem to do well. Second game was a lot more lopsided than the first one. (I'm still getting the hang of the game mechanics in general. Doesn't feel terribly close to the table top game. Reminds me a lot of the old (late 90's) Great Battles of Alexander/Hannibal/Caesar pc game series that were based on the GMT board games of the same names. Need to try the scenario form the Roman side next and see how that works out.

You'll soon find yourself winning every battle against the AI (which isn't such bad AI) but playing a human makes all the difference. In beta testing, I played Starter Army 1 a lot and the Romans nearly always won against Carthage. That's why I did this scenario. Seleucid pikes and cats seem much more competative against the Romans. Plus, my best miniature army is Seleucid.
FoG PC seems very similar to the Great Battles series until you look inside. FoG's scenario editor is far easier to use than the Great Battles one which was dreadful.

I don't think I ever tried the Great Battles series editor. Not even sure I noticed it had one but then it's been a long time since I last tried them. Maybe I should dig them out again and see.
Personally I prefer the earlier Alexandrian Macedonian army to the Seleucids but the Seleucids are my favorites among the later Successor armies. Thanks for the scenario at any rate.

Alex doeesn't have cats. The scenario editor was only in the collected series edition and nearly impossible to use.

P.S. You're welcome. I just did another scenario and got a l"list out of bounds" error message again. I wonder what I'm doing worng?

is there a simple list of the units available in the scenario editor and their vp cost?
i know that if you right clik on each unit it gives the vp cost, but it would be a lot easier if there was a nice, simple table listing each type of unit and its cost...that would make creating scenarios and building armies much easier...

Filtering by nationality would be good too.
