We know a lot of the beta testers are having a blast but it would be great to hear some comments from them in the open forum to let people know what they think of the game. AAR's would be great if you can be bothered, with screenshots

Where To Start

Where to start. Well I know that a lot of people have been waiting for this game and that they have been dismayed at the long delay. But as a beta tester, I want everyone to know that the end product is leaps and bound from the original beta. The AI is more robust and plays a lot more like an army on the march. The multiplayer has to be the most changed part of the program and it is awesome! I really like the way it is set up so you do not have to play the whole game in a set time period. I also love the chat feature with it because it keeps one of the most fundamental parts of table top wargaming - you get to know your opponents and develop friends. I have enjoyed the fellowship that is part of this outstanding product very much! The scenerio editor is great and easy to use. You can modify the unit types so it is easy to represent other armies from the time period. I have done some great battles with Maccabean Jews vs Seleucids (166BC to 160BC) fighting in the mountain passes of Judah. More expansions, with new armies, scenerios, and a army builder is on its way and I am really excited! The art is great and is taken directly from existing miniatures for these armies. Since I do not have a site of my oun I am not sure how to post pictures on the forum. It would be great if we could upload. Although you all will undoubtedly find bugs that we did not during beta testing, I can tell you that most should be gone (we found lots of them). Be sure, we gave the programing team for this game no slack and I hope that we helped them to develop a great game for you. Thanks

Played a few battles now, and my opinion of the game is the same as it was when I first turned it on: excellent.
Here is a list of pros:
- Graphics are great; the miniatures look very nice.
- Animations run very smoothly, and combat progresses at a good pace.
- scenario builder is a breeze.
- AI defeats me without much difficulty (but I can always give myself a bonus if I feel like winning).
- It's set in a time period I love, and there are apparently more expansion packs to come.
- Haven't played multiplayer online yet, but I'm pleased to say that the 2 people on 1 PC option works.
Here is a list of cons:
- I can't find a button to change the resolution anywhere. I run this laptop at 1920x1080 for the desktop, but I always play my games at a lower resolution, like 1280x768. The game appears to just run at the desktop resolution, which means the miniatures are uncomfortably small for me, and the zoom-settings won't let me go in close enough to compensate. Therefore, until somebody points me in the right direction, I'm stuck switching my desktop resolution back and forth.
-Took me a long time to figure out how to delete scenarios. I just made a scenario in order to play with the builder, and never saved it, but the game still created a file for it. There was no way to delete it through the software itself, and I couldn't find any documentation as to where the savegames are stored. Thankfully some people on the forum helped out.
- Doesn't appear to have any campaign function. The battles are all independent, even though the game provides multiple battles from the same war, featuring the same army. It's probably too big of a request at this point, but this would be a great choice for an expansion pack, and would make an already great game even better. I would like to make the Cleomenean War in the scenario builder, and if there was some sort of campaign function, then the player's performance would determine the state of the Spartan army. Imagine a multiplayer where one person plays Cleomenes and tries to build and maintain an army as he fights various battles against set armies controlled by the opponent.

A Compaign was one of the first things suggested by the Beta Testers. Hopefully we will see this in one of the expansions.

I bought the game about 7 hours ago.
Been playing it since
Very impressed with the presentation, game play, funablility, AI intelligence.
I have still to try the Multiplayer online part.
Very pleased.

Maccabean Revolt scenario?
You must somehow upload that
It would seem that for anyone who knows how to make the "miniatures" pics, it would be easy to add new looks for units into the game.

I downloaded it 2 days ago and can't stop playing!
I second the urgent request for a campaign version. Playing one-off battles is fun, but it isn't quite as fulfilling as winning a series of them and thus a war!

Being a mini tournament player I would like to see something set up for that format, where you can build your own armies at some type of points value and than pair off against someone else who has done the same. Maps could be random generated or randomly selected from some pre-made maps. It adds for a lots of variety and will keep my interest peaked.
I do like that additional battles are being added, and think that if these keep getting produced I will definetly stay with it.

If we have to issue the patch and the hassle that comes with it then there usually be new battles to look forward to as well

.
We are looking at easy ways for users to post scenarios so every one access them but we need a system that ensures the user submitted scenario's are robust and do not cause issues for the users who download them.
We are now focused on developing the army builder! To get an idea of just one aspect of this; there are 154 (or there abouts) different units in the current game. Each one is made up of 14 different images. We are working through 353 units ( x 14 images) in the first army builder release, no small task.
Then we need a revised challenge system for players using custom armies!
After that, then we will look at the time and effort for a campaign system.

That sounds like you have quite a mighty task ahead of you, keep up the good work and thank you for doing it.

Love the new patch, and am really glad to hear about a new army pack, and the possibility of custom armies!
After playing my first multiplayer game, and doing my first AAR, I have the following suggestions:
- After-action replay. Making AARs is fun, but it's difficult to do when you're in the middle of the battle, especially for multiplayer games. I'd rather just play the battle, and then afterwards I can view each turn again, and take my time choosing which images I'd like to save. Right now, when the battle is done, that's it. You either AAR'd during the battle, or else it's too late.
- A refresh button for the multiplayer screen. It is strange to have to change tabs to make the programme refresh the list of ongoing games.
