Battle of Thapsus, Win Condition bug? (Mac)

I haven't noticed this in other difficulties (maybe I should replay) but in Very Hard, I never get to kill the enemy general.
He always runs away (untouched). The Win Condition dialogue appears "Enemy General Killed" when my army is barely starting on the left wing of the enemy.
As soon as the right wing has been defeated, this happens. Up to that point he's hiding behind his Praetorians and the cavalry surrounding him has not been engaged, either.
Obviously, a major loss of experience points, especially when my army is chewing these guys to shreds on the rocks.

Anyone else notice this? And is this an issue with Windows too?

Is this repeatable? If someone on windows can get it to happen too that would help.

This happens almost always in the windows version too.

Ok thanks. We'll have to check it out. If someone could supply a saved game on the PC version just before it happens that would help us to track it down. I'm still not exactly sure what you're seeing but hope it will be obvious when I see it!

I have yet to see a time when the enemy general and his guard doesn't run away!

Sorry, no saved game at Thapsus, I'm into hte Mars battles in COM. But I'll begin a new campaign and will take notes because there're some scenarios (2-3) that need some tweaks (basicly thinking in suicide Leaders that charge in front of the army if you don't charge and wait for the enemy to attack first).

Yes, there are some insane enemy leader charges... In the "End of the Dream" Spartacus has a major death wish.
Last time he charged my veteran heavy infantry and got killed before he could say "ouch!" and get any help from his gladiators.
Another pretty nutty leader charge occurs in Battle of Magnesia. Somehow they always decide to beeline for the toughest heavy hitting unit with Ajax banner & Achilles armour.

I tried a completely different strategy on Thapsus, this time not luring the left wing onto the rocks, just charging ahead at them with heavy infantry. Both right wing and left wing of enemy army destroyed/routed. Which is more than I managed before, but as soon as my guys approach the praetorians, the entire retinue surrounding the general turns and runs into the sea.
Where they drown, presumably.
