Mac? Orders to units on the fly during battle?

HI

Just bought the gametoday and I need clarification on the issuing of orders. First off I am using a Apple Titanium 15" notebook 1000 ghz , 1024 RAM, 64 GB ATI RAdion and a 60 GB HD.

When it comes to giving orders there is a pre-battle order stage where you can give the various pre-set orders. However what does one do once you click go? If for example there are 3 squads engaged across the battlefield and say the squad on the left flank is victorious is it possible to order that unit to come to the aid of the center squad?

My frustration comes over the fact that I will select an idle unit that is nearby another squad being slaughterd and cannot move the squad nearer to help shore up the fight elsewhere. Even when the cursor changes into a sword for an attack order on the battlefield I can't get any of my idle units to attack.

Is this a bug? Are there any patches for the Mac version as well? I've looked and not seen any.
All best

I am not sure how the Mac conversion handles this, but you should be able to order squads. The PC uses the right mouse button for ordering - I would check the manual for the Mac approach. You certainly should be able to order troops, both to attack and also a number of other orders using the command buttons on the bottom bar.

Hope that helps. Cheers

Bud, sounds like you are selecting your units then left-clicking on the enemy unit when you see the sword cursor

You need to right-click on the enemy unit instead :)

And Pip, it was Apple pioneered the 2-button mouse. Macs had a right mousebutton long before PC's did :)

Hi guys,

Many thanks for the reply. I was right-clicking on my Logitech wireless mouse but the game wasn't responding. RE-read the pdf file on the manual and there isn't any specific instructions other than right-clicking. Eventually by trial and error I needed to press control right-click for orders to be sent to the squads. Certainly a big difference in gameplay being able to give orders now. Great game.

Strange. I doubt that the Mac chaps would have added that requirement - perhaps there is a mouse setting that is causing it to be needed on your machine?

I think the mouse may need to be set properly with a right click for the right button. LA worked fine for me and my mouse with several buttons... I didn't need to change any settings or hold another key when right clicking. Sometimes I think it isn't working, but that's just because I'm too frenzied to realize I haven't accumulated enough order points.

I think it's a Logitech issue more so than a Mac issue. My right button is set for a double click command so that maybe the reason why it doesn't recognice it unless its in conjuction with the control key. Now that I know the combination its easy to do .

I would agree with plucero's analysis. I play on a titanium laptop as well. In the default setting, a MAC laptop will require one to use CONTROL-click in lieu of a RIGHT-CLICK on PC or two button mouse.

SHIFT-CLICK allows one to set waypoints in the deployment screen
FUNCTION-CLICK allows on to delete waypoints.
