Impact or melee POA, what do you prefer?

With the discussion on defensive spear and light spear cavalry I thought I would try a quick poll.

I voted, but picked the middle one because I think it all depends on what use I intend for the BG in question.

It's not that simple, it also depends if any CT modifiers are involved. Asuming none I voted for the 3rd option. If some that might change though.

I did think of adding in CT modifiers as well and was initially going to do so but I couldn't think of a way to balance the choices.
I may do another poll along similar lines with things like + at impact and a -1 on enemy CT but at the expense of being shock troops.

I voted for option 3 .
If you do lose the impact and go disrupted, the ++ in melee means you can still expect to do more hits than the opponent.
Option 2 is probably a close second place.
Exact circumstances might change things. If the opponent is already fragmented I'd go for the double plus at impact.

In most of the games I've played, melee generally seems to be distinctly more decisive than impact. So much so that I some times wonder if FoG makes the results of the initial impact be less decisive than it should. But it maybe that's just a carry over from seeking to get or to avoid Quick Kill match ups in DBM. I voted for the third option but will agree that the plus in both is almost as good, especially if there are CT modifiers involved.

Voted option 3 for many of the reasons noted. Also because a player can compensate for impact POAs with formations, such as approaching with a narrow frontage and then expanding/feeding in during maneuver. Thus, you can reduce the burdens of your own poor impact factors (or the benefits of good ones for your enemy).

But when this started the defensive spear were worse than evens on impact. Bases in contact were even, the bow then had 50% more dice, re-rolling all their ones, superior shooting at least twice at close range before the spear could charge and all for the same cost in points.
Not as simple a question as it looks.
The poll should have been:
Do you want
Superior Bow with pugellistic skills, but bugger all else?
Average bods with a less than average spear?
for the same points
