Does anyone have any information on the colours historically worn by Cretan Archers (for my Pontic Army)?
I was thinking of a greeny-blue tunic but wanted them to be historically accurate if possible.
Thanks

As mercenaries it seems unlikely they would have had any set uniform. I'd guess a combination of linen type colours, well battle worn (and with big pockets for all their money !)

Because they were mercenaries and they had a lot of money, you can paint tunic coloured and with some decorations. Decoration should be in Greek style, so you could add a border of different colour.

I can't remember where I read this but I do recall one reference as saying that Cretan mercenary archers typically wore red tunics, often with a daker red geometric border.

That would be the Cretan mercnaries with Xenephon's 10,000.
red was a fairly easy dye to obtain and used by others also. Cretans are mentioned as carrying shields on several occasions and this may have been a normal practice for them as other archers are metioned as being equipped in the Cretan style which may imply that they were equipped in a different manner from other archers.
