Ashigaru uniform help....

Was just wondering if any one can tell me the colour of ashigaru in the onin war or know of a good site with uniforms on with maybe examples of ashigaru as mine have just landed and i want to start painting them asap. Thanks in advance......Carl

"Uniforms" per se were not really something that happened. Generally the clothing underneath the armour would be whatever they were wearing, so would be all sorts of things. Being of a lower class the chance of it being highly coloured would be rare, but you could do what you like and nobody can really say anything about it. The armour would have been supplied by the Buke, and whilst not 'cheap and nasty' it certainly would rarely have been anything much more flamboyant than dark colours like black. The mon (crest) was more important than a colour, but Mon's did tend towards a particular colour, so you could research your particular Onin clans and do the armour predominantly in that colour.

What I have done, mind you i am in a later more orginized peroid using Perry 28mm figues. I use matching muted colors for each unit. Tans, pale green. But in the Senjko peroid things were more orginized.
