Two Questions

One:

Can a BG shoot out of terrain (first rank only, of course) if it is within the distance defining visibility for that terrain type from the edge? e.g. troops wholly in a Forest can only be seen at 2 MU (p. 131), so if the front rank is inside a Forest and 1 MU from the edge, can it shoot out?

Or put another way: a BG can shoot if its LOS does not pass through Terrain that would block LOS (p 82) and Forest LOS blocks at 2 MU (Terrain blocks LOS beyond the visibility distances specified, p. 132) so 1 MU from the edge is less than this blocking distance.

Do I understand this correctly? Thanks.

Page 132 states "In some cases light foot can see out but not be seen." I have not been able to figure out why this is limited to light foot. Help?

In some terrain LF cannot be seen beyond a certain distance, but other troops can be seen beyond that distance. E.g. Vineyards.

Troops in concealing terrain can only shoot at targets that are within the visibility limits of that terrain, even if the targets are not in the terrain. Furthermore. If on opposite sides of some concealing terrain, but not actually in it, you cannot shoot regardless of range. "Troops beyond cannot be seen".

Thanks, gents. So if I understand correctly, MF Bow wholly inside Vineyards (which have 4" visibility) and 1" from the edge can see 4" from their front corner, i.e. 3" out of the terrain.
