3 questions...

I played my 1st FOGR game a week or so ago and a couple of questions arise.
1. I used TYW Germans with the early Tercio's and was a little miffed to find the 3rd rank of Pk and also of Muskets did not have a combat effect other than negative, i.e. more vulnerable to artillery. Why? I realise that the bigger BG size is a small bonus, but not when you're picking off a base nearly every bound....
2. This same Tercio when in combat, is the "spare" base of Musket allowed to be an overlap? i.e a depth of 1 base? Also can the 3rd pike base do so?
3. Artillery vs mtd. Why are mtd able to charge from outside effective (short) range of artillery and not at least risk one effective round of shooting? To me the odds are stacked very heavily in favour of mtd as they are usually 5 or 6 to hit at longer ranges anyway.
I did enjoy the game and so far will play more. There is a good chance that I may not play FOGAM again if FOGR continues to improve.
