Storm over the Pacific – A New Panzer Corps 2 Campaign
Hi everyone,
here is my second campaign for Panzer Corps 2: **Storm over the Pacific**.
I’ve learned quite a lot while working on it, although I’m still a long way from being an expert when it comes to campaign design. Still, I hope the campaign offers some fun, variety, and a few interesting challenges.
Finding the right balance is still one of the more difficult parts for me. I also have to admit that I found some of the scripting and scenario setup in PC2 unnecessarily complicated. It would be great if the developers could simplify or improve some of these tools in the future.
Anyway, I hope some of you will give the campaign a try and have a good time with it.
Feedback is, of course, always welcome.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01 – Kota Bharu
8 December 1941 – Malaya
The campaign begins with the Japanese landings at Kota Bharu on the north-eastern coast of Malaya. Japanese troops came ashore during the night against British-Indian resistance, opening the land campaign that would eventually lead south toward Singapore.
02 – Jitra
11–13 December 1941
The British 11th Indian Division attempted to establish a defensive line around Jitra. The Japanese 5th Division broke through the incomplete positions, forcing another major Allied withdrawal southward.
03 – Kampar
30 December 1941 – 2 January 1942
At Kampar, British and Indian troops used strong defensive terrain to temporarily halt the Japanese advance. Despite successfully holding their positions for several days, the Allies eventually withdrew to avoid being outflanked.
04 – Slim River
7 January 1942
Japanese tanks launched a rapid breakthrough along the main road at Slim River and penetrated deep into the positions of the 11th Indian Division. The defeat opened the route toward Kuala Lumpur and became one of the clearest examples of Japanese armored exploitation during the Malayan campaign.
05 – Muar
14–22 January 1942
Australian and Indian troops fought a series of hard battles around Muar, Gemas and the road toward Parit Sulong. Despite inflicting considerable losses on the Japanese, the Allied forces were eventually forced back toward southern Johore.
06 – Singapore
8–15 February 1942
After reaching the Johore Strait, Japanese forces crossed onto Singapore Island on 8 February. Following a week of fighting and increasing shortages of supplies and water, the British command surrendered Singapore on 15 February 1942.
The Burma Campaign
07 – Pegu
3–7 March 1942
After the fighting at the Bilin and Sittang rivers, exhausted British and Indian forces attempted to delay the Japanese advance around Pegu while the withdrawal from Rangoon continued. Fighting included British M3 Stuart tanks of the 7th Armoured Brigade before the Allies withdrew north toward Prome.
08 – Shwedaung
29 March 1942
During the retreat through central Burma, Japanese troops established a roadblock at Shwedaung behind part of the British striking force. British infantry and tanks of the 7th Armoured Brigade were forced to fight their way through while trying to prevent their retreat route from being cut.
09 – Fire from the Sky
Partly fictional scenario – spring 1942
This mission replaces the originally planned Prome scenario. It is deliberately designed as a special air operation rather than another conventional ground battle.
The player controls only Japanese aircraft. Within a limited number of turns, British hangars, supply depots and other designated installations must be destroyed from the air. The mission is partly fictional but is placed against the historical background of growing Japanese air superiority over Burma; Japanese air strength in the theater was substantially reinforced during March 1942.
10 – Kalewa
May 1942 – The Retreat to India
The originally planned Shwegyin mission has also been changed. Instead of another conventional battle, the final scenario depicts the desperate British retreat toward India.
As Burma Corps withdrew north and west, troops of the 17th Indian Division moved toward Shwegyin on the Chindwin River and crossed to the Kalewa side during 8–9 May 1942. The exhausted Allied forces then continued west toward the Indian frontier while Japanese forces attempted to close the escape routes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The last two missions have therefore deliberately been redesigned:
Mission 9: Prome → Fire from the Sky
A partly fictional, aircraft-only special mission focused on destroying British airfield and supply installations.
Mission 10: Shwegyin → Kalewa
The campaign finale now represents the final stages of the British withdrawal across the Chindwin and toward India. Shwegyin remains historically relevant as the crossing area, but Kalewa becomes the focus and title of the final mission.

A special thanks also goes to DeathMutant, who has kindly offered to take care of the LUA scripting. His testing, feedback and suggestions have been extremely helpful throughout the development of the campaign and have already helped improve several aspects of the scenarios.
