Stepped forward pursuit

A minor one in tonight's game.

A staggered BG due to step forward breaks its opponent in impact

Since the rout began before conforming, what happens?

Does the victorious BG stay stepped forward for the initial pursuit in the impact phase?

Because of the various angles the unit could contact one BG if you measured from the stepped forward point, but that meant the non-stepped forward base would do what? Hang back or catch up in the impact phase.

Once manuver comes we have reforming so it is a very trivial point.

As far as I understand stepped forward BGs that pursue remain stepped forwards. If they contact fresh enemy then that becomes a charge and they will step forwards again which might sort them out. Either way before the melee phase there is a movement phase and they will as you realised reform.
