Looks like Mithras... smells like Mithras... but it's not

Okay, maybe I'm just dense... but this makes no sense to me.
I bought and downloaded the Cult of Mithras expansion. I installed it. I downloaded the patch. I installed it.
I click on the 'Play Legion Arena - Cult of Mithras' icon. I get a 'Legion Arena - Cult of Mithras' splash screen and menu. I pick 'play'.
It's the regular NON Mithras version of the game. I played the whole thing through thinking, well, maybe they tack it on at the end of the other campaigns. Nope. Fortunately it doesn't take that long to finish the game.
So... what am I missing?

Iain is the expert on all things installer, but I am pretty sure that CoM comes patched already. I would suggest uninstalling everything, being sure to delete any left over files, and then install just Arena and then CoM and see if that works OK. You could save your options.bin file if you want to keep your progress.
Cheers

Okay, I did the following:
I made a temp directory under C:\program files\strategy first\ and copied my saved games directory and the options.bin file into the temp directory.
I used add/remove programs to remove Legion: Arena.
I then deleted the C:\program files\strategy first\legionarena directory.
I installed Arena: Legion from the retail CD.
I used 'Check for Updates' to find the patch to version 1.01 (or whatever it was). I downloaded and installed that patch.
I then installed CoM.
I used 'Check for Updates' to find the patch to version 1.01b (or whatever it was). I downloaded and installed that patch.
I start the game using the 'Play Legion Arena - Cult of Mithras' icon.
Again, I get the CoM menu and splash screen... but when the game actually starts it looks nothing different than the normal Legion: Arena game.
I see three campaigns: Latin, Roman, Celtic. What should I see?

I would suggest that installing CoM should be the last thing on that list, otherwise you might be writing over the CoM data with data from the patch. It shouldn't happen, there are checks in place I think, but I do know there can be instances where the installer fails to catch the versions etc.

Hi Schno,
you should see 5 campaigns. Make sure you install CoM as the last thing you do, then everythign shoudl work. You can just uninstall CoM and reinstall it and that shoudl have the desired effect.
The CoM missions are added to the end of the Roman campaign so loading up your save at the end will take you directly to CoM. The new campaigns just allow you to play through the Roman and Celtic mission paths with access to the CoM units yourself.

Okay... so I uninstalled CoM.
I reinstalled CoM.
I get the CoM menu.
I select 'Play'.
I get an error message window that says 'Softwrap file error3'.
I hit OK.
I get another error message window that says 'Error: Inconsistent files'.
I don't get this when I install the patch (v1.0101b)
sigh.

Hi Schno,
sorry for the inconvience. This is very strange, we've not had any of these problems before. Which version of the original Legion Arena are you using - i.e. which publisher/country and is it digital download or a boxed copy?
Cheers
Iain

First, thanks for your help with this. I hope we can get it resolved. I really want to play CoM
I have the retail boxed copy of LA published by Strategy First. (actually, I see another company on the box as well 'Osprey Publishing') so... yeah, one of those. I bought it at Fry's Electronics here in Los Angeles sometime earlier this year. If need be, I can e-mail the registration code to you.

Hi Schno,
before you start make sure you uninstall CoM and then uninstall Legion Arena. To be safe, also delete the Legion Arena directory from Program Files\Strategy First (or whereever you installed it to).
Then all you should need to do is install Legion Arena from CD and then install CoM. You do not need any patches.
If this doesn't work let me know and we'll try an alternative method!
Cheers

Ah well, time for an alternative method.
I uninstalled CoM and then uninstalled LA.
I installed LA from the CD.
I installed CoM.
I hit 'Play' and I get the error message window that says 'Softwrap file error3'.
I hit OK.
I get another error message window that says 'Error: Inconsistent files'.

I'm checking with softwrap what that error means. I'll get back to you ASAP. This isn't actually our code so I'm wondering if this is something they know how to fix.

I'm really sorry for all this hassle Schno. The problem lies in softwrap and apparently is something they know about because they have instructions on how to fix it.
Here is what they told me :
1) Uninstall the software
2) Delete the software folder under Program Files (if it is still there)
3) Go to the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents and delete the following file/folders:
a) Softwrap (Folder)
b) Global.sw2 (File)
4) Reinstall the software
5) Run the software and activate it using your License Holder Name & Purchase Reference Number
Once again, sorry for the inconvenience. We are working to improve the digital delivery service.

I've been out of town for a bit.
So... I gave it a shot.
But, for some reason that I cannot fathom, the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents directory is not accessable. I get Access Denied messages whenever I try to open it. I've tried going in through a DOS window and attrib'ing it... no luck. I looked at the properties for the folder. It was set to Read Only. I unchecked that box...no luck. It's weird.

To access that folder I think you need to be signed in with admin privaleges. Are there other users set up on your PC?

Nope, I'm the only user on this machine. I verified in the Control Panel->User Admin that I am the administrator on this PC.
