Figures for Arab Conquest

I have a small Arab Conquest army for BBDBA that I am looking to expand into an 800 point FOG Army.
Looking at the Hinds Figures site there are various Arab figures available - are they all suitable?
Do early Arabs use round shields (like most of the figures I have) or the the teardrop shields also useable...?
Thanks - this is a not a period I know a lot about - the BBDBA army was an impulse purchase off another club member...
thanks
Mike

I'm also looking at getting figures for an Arab army. Seems that with a few extra options you can get something that can be morphed into various Arab armies within reason and across time periods and geography. Have been tossing up between Legio Heroica too, but also Khurasan. Like the look of them both, but once the promised 8th-11th century figs from Khurasan come in it looks like a bigger range for earlier periods. Maybe Legio Heroica if going for the Swords & Scimitars armies, Khurasan if more leaning towards Decline & Fall armies
Anyone know how well these two types can be mixed (in relation to size of figs) or does it have to be one or the other?
Cheers,
Mark.

The teardrop shields are later, they start showing up in the tenth century IIRC. Prevalent at the time of Fatimids. Round shields were used during the conquest period and continue through the Renaissance (though sizes and patterns vary) in use by Berbers, Bedouin, and Dailamis, among others.

Thanks you - that's exactly what I wanted to know

Hi, sorry for the delay in releasing the Arabs but I had some painter issues with the models for the webstore. That's just been sorted and I have the rest of the images. So they will be going up for sale in a few days.
By the way, we have slingers and javelinmen too!

To be honest I hated to commission them as they are only available in small quantities in a few of the Arab armies, but some armies have them, and I felt it wouldn't be right to leave the gamer in the lurch on them. All the models with shields have round ones.
Line is here, but I haven't enabled the new codes as of this posting -- will do in a few days.
