Solemnace Swedish 1450CE-1500CE defeats gort7078 Lithuanian 1386-1454 with allies: Tatar 41-0

The Lithuanians and their tartar allies did their best but this was probably a very difficult match up from the word go. Horse archers(some of them only 50% bows) and knights against a mass of Armored infantry with 50% crossbows and artillery support was always going to be an issue. Several of the knight charges did disrupt Swedish infantry and one Swedish unit was badly beaten up but it wasn't enough to break any units of the Swedes who relentlessly push back the Lithuanians and their allies unleashing hails of crossbow bolts to break the enemy.

A much closer battle than the score indicates the french were able to use rough terrain in the center of the field to get around the Milanese right. The Milanese attacked the holding force hard and were on the verge of a breakthrough when they suffered a cascade rout on the final turn. The French had very good rolls all game. GG danny

Solemnace Swedish 1450-1500

The Swedes decided to stand behind a wide stream in a long line of infantry. Halberds raised and crossbows loaded.
A hill bristling with cannons was firmly waiting for the undeniably annoying war wagons.

We attacked both wings of the line to avoid the deadly hill. On the left side, a mountain blocked mobility and allow us to crush the mix-infantry against it. On the right, a small hill allowed us to deliver a barrage sufficient to defeat the only unit of Swedish knights and to develop a pincer movement with our cavalry and crossbowmen.

Discouraged by this seemingly solid line, the Hussites went into battle defeated and were surprised by the result.

Solemnace Swedish 1450CE-1500CE defeats Indibil Florentine 1424 64-41

THe Florentines and their Swiss Mercenaries found themselves facing a strong line of Scandinavian foot supported by a large artillery battery and knights on both flanks. The battle kicked with action on both flanks as Florentine Mercenary Men At arms clash with their Swedish counter parts. On the Swedish left their Men At arms support by Swedish Infnatry was able to triumph but ultimately left their artillery exposed to Florentine light horse who destroyed several artillery crews. In the Centre the Florentine Crossbowmen, Longbowmen and Brigans support by light troops initialy held the upper hand against advancing Scandinavian foot but with the support of Swedish Men At arms eventually the Swedes gained the upper hand as the battle came to a close. On the Swedish right a Mass of Scandinavian foot with Men At Arms facing two Swiss Keils and Florentine Mercenary Men at Arms. One of Swedish Men At arms was able to defeat his Florentine Counterpart only to be driven off by the Swiss but the other Swiss Keil was less fortunate. After Initial success it was surrounded by Men at arms and Scandinavian foot and while a rally helped initially drive off the Men At arms it had lost it's formation was exposed to the Men At arms flank charging them eventually leaving the units fragmented and horribly depleted before the death of a Florentine General command nearby Men at arms fighting other Sweidish infantry broke them for good. This disrupted the Florentine Men at arms who then found themselves rear charged by their Swedish coutner parts and broken as the battle ended.

Solemnace Swedish 1450CE-1500CE defeats ulysisgrunt Milanese 1440-1500 45-16

The Milanese attacked in two blocks of Mercenary men at arms mounted and dismounted with artillery sitting in between. On the left they came up against a force mostly of Swedish knights and missle cavalry and the infantry spent most of battle sitting there facing the knights while the Mounted Mercenary Men at arms confronted the Swedish Mounted Men at Arms and were defeated. The other half of the Milanese army faced a line of Scandinavian foot. The Mounted Troops suffered heavy losses to crossbow fire but the Milanese infantry was able to make good headway against the left flank of the Swedish infantry they struggled to break through the resilient Swedes but were on the brink of a break through. The Swedish centre had run down the Milanese artillery and was try to outflank both halfs of the Milanese infantry. I a rash moment some of the Milanese infantry on the left charge A unit of Swedish Men at arms and were Fragmented and left hopelessly exposed to the Scandinavian foot at there rear who routed them.

Faced with the heavy French cavalry, supported by a small contingent of archers and a keil, the heretics deployed their traditional parade of wagons and crossbowmen.

Unfortunately, faith and nobility did not hold a candle to the tenacious reality of gunpowder and bolts.

Like Matthieu said, 26:52
« Then said Jesus unto him :
Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the artillery wagon.»

Solemnace Swedish 1450CE-1500CE defeats SirMichael Castilian 1476-1497 41-5

Fortune was not with the Castillian army for whom luck seemed to abandon. After commiting to the attack their Swiss Pikeman pushed back there opponents only to find their flanks exposed by the maneuver to two Scandinavian foot who promtly flanked them and broke them killing their general in the process. Charging pike units ended up disrupted against the Swedes on impact only to then break. There outnumbered Men At Arms were swept from the field with only their lighter men at arms hanging on at the end. Even their one victory breaking a single Scandinavian foot was the result of the Swedes running out of men to hold there ground. Only the flight of the Castilian army prevented a worse outcome. A small stroke of good fortune at the end.

SirMichael (Castilian) victory versus gort7078 (Lithuanian) 50 - 24

I fielded mostly infantry against high quality cavalry. I was able to protect my most vulnerable crossbow troops from the deadly fully armored charging Polish Knights and slowly push and overwhelm Lithuanians/tartars with shear numbers. It was a tricky dance to perform (herding cavalry) and I thought I was about to lose a flank. It was a good fight!

SirMichael (Castilian) Victory vs mcfcivo (Breton) 41 - 12

It was a race to destroy the infantry line before the dominant Breton heavy cavalry could round the flank and do serious damage. The map was made a bit narrow via a river and central rough terrain. Castile performed a holding action to slow the hard charging Breton cavalry which worked just enough to allow the Castilian infantry to overrun the center. Good battle!

Solemnace Swedish 1450CE-1500CE defeats rockmanbob123 French 1484-1500 60-54

The Swedish initiaily deploy along a stream in a good defensive position to ward off the French Men At arms from attacking but it soon became clear that the French would not approach such a strong position and so the Swedes had to change tactics. Taking a good but weaker position on a hill on the right they induced the French to repeatedly charge their line while the Swedish left destroyed the French ranged troops from their position on the French right. The Engagement of two Swiss Keils broke the Swedish right and a partially collapse of the Swedish centre exposed the Swedish guns to attack. But the Swedes were able to get behind one of the engaged Keils and rout it by attacking from behind and then from all direction to pull out a narrow victory.
